How to Obtain College Transcripts
Send a written request to the college Registrar or Student Records and Registration, include the following:
1. Name (also list any former names used at the college)
2. Current Address
3. Social Security Number or Student ID
4. Number of copies of which type (official or unofficial)
5. When should transcript be processed? If applicable, select one of these responses: (a) Now, although some grades may be missing; (b) Hold for current term grades indicating term/year; (c) Hold for change of grade; and (d) Hold for degree
6. Complete name and address where each transcript is to sent
7. Signature (required; usually, an unsigned request will not be processed)
8. Daytime phone number where you can be reached if the office has any questions regarding your request
9. Include payment of transcript request fee. Check with your school to find out acceptable payment methods. Do not send cash. Usually, a fax request must include a credit card number to be processed.
An "unofficial" transcript at many institutions does bear the signature of the institution's certifying official and the College Seal. It is identified as a "Student Copy."
A transcript can take a few days or a few weeks to process, depending on your institution.
